RDT’s Communications Interface enables users of the Tempus vital signs monitor to take advantage of the rapid expansion in the number, type, range and power of fixed and portable communications technologies in a simple and intuitive way.

MCI is fully featured in terms of the number and variety of communications options that it provides and also in the ease with which the user can switch from one option to another. It is built into Tempus or can be supplied to other manufacturers as an OEM communications module.

The MCI module provides the user with:

• 2 integral modems for 2k4baud voice and data connections over traditional Inmarsat satcoms
• RDT’s proprietary DSVD technology for single modem calls over landlines or broadband satcoms systems such as Swift 64
• Integral tri-band GSM cell phone for use in land or close to shore applications
• Integral Ethernet and WiFi communications for accessing broadband satcoms systems that use wired or wireless Ethernet access
• 2 integral serial interfaces for using 2k4baud satellite terminals such as Iridium or Mini-M
• DSVD enabled serial interface for using 9k6baud or greater satellite terminals such as Thuraya, BGAN and Inmarsat.
