V Australia Signs Up For New Technology From RDT

(June 11, 2008)BRISBANE, Australia, 10 May 2008 - V Australia Airlines, Virgin Blue’s soon-to-be launched three class long-haul carrier has selected the new Tempus IC medical device from medical equipment manufacturer, RDT to provide on-board, remote diagnostic, vital signs capability.

V Australia will launch its Boeing B777-300ER trans-Pacific services between Australia and the US West Coast in December 2008. RDT is proud to have V Australia as its first Asia Pacific customer for Tempus IC. While V Australia will pioneer the technology in this part of the world, it is being used to administer accurate medical diagnosis and advice to crew on airlines around the world, including bmi, Emirates and Virgin Atlantic.

Tempus IC transmits the vital signs routinely measured in a hospital emergency room, so in the event of a mid-flight medical emergency, V Australia’s passengers can get the best in-flight diagnosis and treatment support available. It delivers fast access to aviation medical specialists on the ground; even at 37,000 feet, its advanced communications enables comprehensive medical protection.

Tempus IC calls from V Australia aircraft will be handled by MedAire experts based at their medical facility in Phoenix, Arizona.

Scott Swift, Executive General Manager, V Australia Airlines, said, “We are pleased V Australia will have this technology on board its fleet of new B777 aircraft which will  ensure the best possible medical care and advice for the odd occasions travellers fall ill during flight."

Graham Murphy, CEO for RDT “Tempus IC is a breakthrough in telemedicine, integrating years of R&D, innovation, real-world experience and unique communication technology. V Australia promise to bring new levels of customer service and innovation to the commercial aviation market in the region; RDT is delighted to be associated with this vision.”

Tempus IC’s unique iAssist screens, simultaneous voice, video and full set of medical parameters, empower cabin crew to manage even the most stressful medical incidents.
